What is a Dental Bridge?
A Dental Bridge is a permanent fixed replacement for one or more missing teeth. It requires the adjacent teeth to support it. It will look, feel and function naturally.
The procedure will begin with a thorough examination and this will determine if a bridge is the right solution for your problem. At the next visit the teeth on either side of the missing tooth/teeth are prepared and an impression is taken. A temporary bridge is then placed over the teeth. Your impression is then sent to our expert lab, where they will create your bridge to match the shape, size and colour of your natural teeth. This process usually takes between two and three weeks.
At the next appointment the temporary bridge is removed and your permanent bridge is tried for fit, colour and harmony with your bite. The bridge is then permanently bonded with dental cement.
Bridges can reduce your risk of gum disease, help correct some bite issues and even improve your speech. A bridge will improve the overall appearance of your teeth and give you a bright healthy smile.
Like all dental restorations, bridges require maintenance, like brushing, flossing and visiting your dentist for regular check ups.
